The 2024 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to an organization of survivors of nuclear bomb blasts, specifically the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear attacks and Pacific atomic bomb tests of the mid-20th Century. The group advocates for the support of these survivors, in Japan referred to as hibakusha, and its members seek to convince international governments to completely eliminate nuclear weapons, making their case through survivors’ witness accounts.
The Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations, later shortened to Nihon Hidankyo (founded August 10, 1956)(1), is singularly determined to completely eradicate nuclear weapons. Founded 11 years after nuclear bombs were first used in war, the group’s originating chart shows Sun (17 Leo) conjunct the same three dwarf planets conjunct the Sun on August 6 and August 9, 1945, when Hiroshima(2) and Nagasaki were obliterated. On August 6, the Sun (13 Leo), Pluto (9 Leo), dwarf planet Haumea (16 Leo), and (not yet named) dwarf planet 2013 FY27 (18 Leo) describe a day (Sun) of catastrophic power intent to overwhelm all defense (Pluto), bringing ruinous destruction (Haumea), with fierce exclamation/noise (2013 FY27). At Nihon Hidankyo’s founding in 1956, the Sun (17 Leo) again conjoined 2013 FY27 (22 Leo), Haumea (26 Leo), and Pluto (27 Leo), but with an opposite aim – to use the power of their united force (Pluto), their stories and images of devastation (Haumea), and insistent determination to be heard and attended (2013 FY27), to convince world governments to get rid of all nuclear weapons. Nihon Hidankyo aspires to completely change the world, to emotionally and morally impact minds and hearts to resolve to dispense completely with nuclear weaponry and make the very thought of such acts completely reprehensible.
Does the founding chart of a group, when compared to the time such a group receives an award like the Nobel, show the arrival of this enormous honor, the joy, excitement, the great prestige and financial boon received, just like we have seen it arrive in celestial representation for individual laureates? It is exactly the same, because a group united in purpose becomes a collective being. On the day Nihon Hidankyo received its Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, Norway, transiting Jupiter (15 Gemini), benevolent and fortunate, was sextile, and transiting Sun (18 Sagittarius) trine the founding chart’s Sun (17 Leo), illustrative of a day (Sun) of achievement and honor (Jupiter), the Peace Prize now forever associated with them. The group’s Venus (3 Cancer), representing their financial and social position, is trine Haumea (2 Scorpio) and dwarf planet Gonggong (4 Pisces), and opposite largest asteroid Pallas (4 Capricorn), the latter a symbol of those who fight for a great cause, not for gain or revenge. This favorable figure represents the power of transformation (Haumea) they will wield more effectively by winning the Nobel, perhaps by having more occasions to share their heartrending testimonials (Gonggong, envoy of compassion and sensitivity) and explain the importance of their fervent struggle to end all nuclear threats (Pallas). Another descriptor of their “fight for peace” is the group’s Piscean Mars (24 Pisces), which looks to get a technological boost, perhaps through online news reports bolstering the public profile of Nihon Hidankyo, from transiting Uranus (24 Taurus) sextile its Mars, and Jupiter (15 Gemini) square its Mars now and into next year, with new opportunities for their message to reach more people.
The three dwarf planets that represent the power, destruction, and terrible uproar of the first nuclear attacks are again in a concerning figure.(3) Pluto (0 Aquarius) and Haumea (2 Scorpio) are in a square of change and challenge, with 2013 FY27 (18 Virgo) semi-square (45 degrees, “half” a square) Haumea and sesquiquadrate (135 degrees) Pluto. This alignment formed since the Russia-Ukraine war began, and it’s a significant representation of how Putin has periodically threatened to deploy his nuclear weapons. The fact that 2013 FY27 is only minorly involved is hopeful, as there has been no “loud exclamation” of a nuclear blast, only Putin’s occasional railing that so far has proved to be empty threats.
Tomorrow we will examine two of the three winners of the prize for Economic Sciences (one laureate has not published a birth date), to finish this series focused on astrology’s view of what it looks like to win a Nobel Prize.

Sue Kientz specializes in astrology’s mid-sized planetary bodies, the largest asteroids and massive trans-Neptunian dwarf planets Eris, Makemake, Haumea, and others discovered this century. Her experience researching the latter led to her book More Plutos, which received a 2016 eLit Award. More Plutos also addresses how resonance, fractals, and intuition can explain how astrology works. Sue argues that the dwarf planets are astrology’s great breakthrough, equivalent to what microorganisms did for medicine.
